What is the cheapest way to get rid of my rubbish?

Our Sales Team often gets asked "what is the cheapest way to get rid of my rubbish" and the answer isn't a simple or straight forward one.

Whilst there are some simple tips and tricks that can dramatically reduce the cost of waste disposal, and some of them are not well known, it all comes down to what you need disposing off.

In todays Blog Post we will explain some of the ways in which you can reduce the cost of waste disposal whilst still making sure your waste is disposed of correctly.

1. Can your waste be re-used?

Depending on what you need disposing of, the item may be able to be reused by someone else. Old electrical appliances can be used for parts, old furniture can be revamped and even old DIY waste can be used by someone else! If you have waste that you think may be useful to someone else, there are some great, FREE sites that you can post on. The top sites to post on are:

2. Can you take the waste to your local recycling centre?

If you are unable to find a new owner for the old items, or it is just simply something that cannot be reused, our next, money saving tip is to check whether your local recycling centre will accept the waste. This does depend on you being able to get the waste to the recycling centre and whether the centre will charge to accept it. Recycling centres do charge for certain types of waste, such as DIY waste, so its always best to check with them first.

3. Can you local Council collect?

If taking the waste to your local recycling centre is out of the question, it may be worth checking whether your local council offers a "Bulky Waste Collection". Most councils will pick up old furniture and appliances for a small fee. The downside is, you have to have the items, outside, on the pavements ready for collection and it can take weeks for them to be collected! However, as the cost of this service is subsidised by your council tax, it is dramatically cheaper that hiring a skip or waste disposal service, especially if you only have 1 or 2 items.

4. How to avoid paying for an expensive skip?

If your local council will not pick up your waste, you might think you only option is to book a skip. However, there is the ever growing, popular option of choosing a Man and Van Rubbish Removal Service, like Yorjunk, to clear the waste you cannot get rid of. Unlike a skip, you only pay for the volume of waste we take away, rather than half filling a skip and still paying full price for it! Our Man and Van Rubbish Removal Service is great because not only do we load all your waste for you but we make sure that everything gets recycled and reused, nothing goesto landfill! We can also take all sorts of waste that you cannot place in a skip such as plasterboard, paints, electrical items, appliances, mattresses and many more!

5. Can you breakdown the waste before it is collected?

One you have decided to book our Man and Van Rubbish Removal Service, is there anything else you can do, to save yourself some money? Yes! Firstly, as Yorjunk charges for the volume of waste we take, it is always worth breaking down bulky furniture so more fits into the vehicle. It can only take minutes to do but it can save you a lot of money.

6. Can the waste be moved the waste before it is collected?

Another great tip, is all Man and Van Rubbish Removal Services includes a labour fee. If you are able to make the loading as easy as possible, the loading fee will be dramatically reduced. Quotes are always a lot cheaper if the waste collector is able to park next to the waste to load, rather than walking it across your property, taking up a lot of time.
